Medals: Xtreme Collaboration (definitely going to use this in the future, awesome incorporation of technology) Handouts (extremely impressive that you made them yourselves) Perfect overview of SmartBoard...feel as though I am really prepared to use it more in the future
Missions: I want to learn how to make a game (example: Jeopardy game)
Medals: I really loved how I had the opportunity to play with the smartboard since I was not too familiar with it. The applications were very fun and interesting - Exchange Collaboration was very useful. It was great that we were able to use our phones. Very interactive.
Missions: I would have liked to learn how to build my own activities for my class. We should have been told to install everything beforehand so that we don't waste time doing that during the workshop I think you could remove the safety portion because it wasn't necessary
I thought that this was an amazing workshop!! Since everyone in the class probably has some experience with SmartBoard, I liked how your workshop incorporated other aspects that we may not have used (like the collaboration part!!). I think that it was great how you guys allowed us to play around with all of the different components of the program. Also, AMAZING handouts!!!! Some things that you guys could work on would be to cut some of the safety information out of the presentation and just mention to us that it is posted on your website. Also, one idea would to be incorporate how to develop activities such as a koosh ball activity in Smart Notebook. Overall, great presentation!!!!
I really like how you started with the basics, with the plugging in, vga and sound. If you don't know the basics, you can't even use smartboard.
I really like the program Exchange collaboration!! Great idea to use the smartboard to incorporate it into the class
It's unfortunate that we havea smartboard in every classroom here and I have no idea how to use it. I'm so happy you guys showed the basics and one program that we can use the smartboard in the class. Great great stuff
Love how you got us involved and let us do everything.
The workshop was really good. I love the interactive features, it gave us some great ideas for the classroom. Maybe spend a bit less time on the basics (e.g. we don't need to know the name of each feature or how to turn the board on and off etc.). Great job, a lot of fantastic applications.
Good preparation with the handouts but I barely looked at the handouts because we were shown what each button does on the actual Smartboard. I think its better to just look at the buttons on the smartboard and play with them from there. Just tell us there's a handout we can refer to after, if we forget. Extreme collaboration is a great add-on. Thanks for showing the koosh ball. Maybe change the template and add math questions then upload it on your website? Take a moment to show other resources that we can use with the smartboard.
The basics were covered REALLY well..I think you can spend a little less time on each icon and what it does. You do have the PDF handout to reference if people need more explanation.
You need to spend more time on HOW to use the smart board in a classroom. Show us how to create a koosh ball activity, or how to alter the one you had, and how the activity builder works. That would have been really useful to learn.
Oh and it would be a great idea to provide the students with the handout. Just how one probably wouldn't learn this on their own, one might not actually print out the handout on their own.
Overall, great interactive workshop. I'm glad we had some issues, so the debugging was good. And the fact that you can connect to smart board and have students upload through their phones to different categories is great!
Good basic intro to Smartboards, too bad the calibration didn't work (maybe check the hardware before starting if you can). The Extreme Collaboration addon sounded like a useful addition. Good effort in getting everyone involved. Also maybe show some more useful addons we could use (for a math classroom).
The presentation went well considering the technology difficulties, I have not yet been able to use the smart board in my teaching practice, and it was nice too have the basics under my belt. Also learn about a few new things like the extreme collaboration that would be an effective learning tool. I will defiantly look into smart board uses that will improve student learning.
Very good, interactive workshop. Luckily we got to see what happens when the technology doesn't work well and have to troubleshoot and fix the problems. Smartboards can be very annoying, but when they work they can be beneficial.
The workshop was very useful and we were able to see a wide variety of Smart Activities. The only advice I would have would to have a plan for when the Smartboard fails (like have us build something on Smart Notebook while the Smartboard is restarting). Great job overall!
